Fall 2015 TOPSoccer Begins

TOPSoccer Begins

]

This weekend, Legacy was pleased to begin the Fall 2015 TOPSoccer season.  The first session was a huge success and the program continues to gain steam as we are now up to 16 participants!  The TOPSoccer program is finding success due to all of the amazing support within the community.  Legacy partners with ARC of Williamsburg to coordinate practices every week during the fall and spring.  Legacy players and families volunteer each week to have fun with their new friends and help provide a unique opportunity for each child wanting to play the beautiful game.

US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers.  The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental physical disability.   Boys and girls age four and older will now have the opportunity to learn and play soccer at their own level. Players will be grouped based on size, age, and ability level, and includes those with wheelchairs, walkers, and other assistive devices.

The program combines the mission of Virginia Legacy (To provide fun, dynamic, and inspiring soccer experiences for youth players of all ages and ability levels) and The Arc of Greater Williamsburg (To improve the quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through community activities and advocacy) so that every child gets the opportunity to experience the joy of playing soccer.
