Kevin Darcy named next Head Coach of Legacy 76

The Virginia Legacy and Legacy 76 NPSL have announced that Kevin Darcy will be named the head coach for the 2015 season.  No stranger to coaching professional level teams in the region, Darcy was a former head coach in USL D3 Pro League, PDL, Super 20’s/W20’s as well as WPSL before taking on his new role with Legacy 76.  While head coaching the Legacy PDL team in 2007 he led the team to a 9-5-2 record.  Darcy played professionally in the USL for the Delaware Wizards, Baltimore Bays, Eastern Shore Sharks and Maryland Mania.  Along with coaching the Legacy 76, Darcy coaches the clubs U13 CCL Elite Girls team, serves as technical director for ETA Soccer “Elite Training Academy” and works with the NSCAA providing coaching education courses in the region.  Holds his US Soccer (USSF)  "A" License, National Youth License and NSCAA Premier Diploma.

“I am excited to take on the Legacy 76 team and continue to build a top level program in the region.  With a solid core of returning players in addition to player support from William & Mary, CNU and the local club systems we will be very competitive, with the goal of winning the NPSL National Championship.  It is a great opportunity not only for talented players, but also for youth players and the local community to experience professional level soccer and help to build a long term culture for upcoming players." - Says Kevin Darcy

Legacy 76 is returning for its second season in the NPSL – Mid Atlantic Division where it finished 4th last season.  Former Youth Director Eric Dutts departure created the vacancy at the Head Coach position however Jake Carel and Jonny Kamara from the Virginia Legacy staff will return and round out the assistant coaching staff for Legacy 76 this summer.  More information on this summer’s season will be coming in the following weeks with schedules, rosters, and season tickets.  Legacy 76 will open its season on May 16th vs. United FC (Richmond) at home at Wanner Stadium at 7pm.  Last year over 1600 people attended the home opener so mark your calendars for opening night of Legacy 76 in the 2015 season.

"We are excited to have Kevin back on staff with Legacy 76.  His experience coaching at this level and ability to connect with the college aged players fits in with the type of coach we are looking for with Legacy 76.  Last year we were able to build a connection from the youngest players in the club right up to the Senior Team - Legacy 76 and we think Kevin will be able to help with that with all young players in Williamsburg and on the Peninsula." - Says Bobby O'Brien - Legacy Executive Director / Legacy 76 GM
