Legacy Boys Competes at IMG Cup

BOYS IMG CUP RESULTS

Bradenton FL. - In December – just before Christmas break the U17 and U18 CCL Elite boys participated in the prestigious IMG Cup in Bradenton, FL.  Regarded as one of the top facilities in the nation and a top recruiting event on the East Coast – the IMG Cup was a great event for Legacy’s older boys teams.  This was the 5th year that the Virginia Legacy participated in the IMG Cup.  In addition to the event itself, IMG hosts a supergroup event consisting of the US U17 National Team, Tottenham U18 Academy (UK), Toluca FC (Mexico) and other top teams from around the United States. The players were able to see two high quality matches each evening between some of the top young players in the World.

The U18 and U17 teams competed in the top and second group respectively out of 7 at each of their ages.  Both teams competed very well on a big stage and came very close to winning the event combining for only 1 loss in 6 matches between the two against the top competition at the tournament.  The U17 Boys went 1 win and 2 ties – needing a win in the 3rd match to win the championship, but couldn’t find the back of the net and settled for a 0-0 draw against Javanon (KY #3).  The U18 boys went 0-1-2 on the weekend with 2 (3-3) draws against Triangle (NC) and IMG Academy (FL).  All in all it was another great experience on and off the field for the 34 young men who were able to travel to Florida.  See below for game results and pictures from the trip.
